Paul Horn Hall just in time for the CMT in Stuttgart

The tenth hall on the grounds of Messe Stuttgart is currently being equipped with everything that will be needed for trade fair operations: telecommunication, light, air, electricity and heating. At the same time, external work is carried out on facade cladding, roof sealing and green roofing.

This means that floor coverings have been applied to the inside of the building after the screed work and the metal ceilings have been drawn in. Various steel works including anti-corrosive coating were just as necessary as tiling and plaster work. The interior doors of steel and laminate/wood, as well as mobile partition walls, were installed.

The completion of the “Paul Horn Halle“ is planned until the opening of the CMT in Stuttgart in January 2018, the world’s largest trade fair for tourism and leisure, and is, according to the responsible persons, on schedule. Messe Stuttgart will have expanded its hallspace from 105.200 to 120,000 square meters. Place that is urgently needed!

The quantities of materials used are impressive. Around 11 kilometers of pipelines were installed for the technical building equipment for heating, cooling, drinking water, grey/black water, sprinklers, compressed air and fire extinguishing water. Eight air-conditioning units in the ventilation centers – which means they heat or cool and distribute – about 360,000 cubic meters of air in total.

The figures are even more impressive in the field of electrotechnical equipment. A total of 16 kilometers of mains cables have been laid for the distribution of the electrical energy into the actual electricity grid solely for the medium voltage supply. 170 kilometers of cable was required for electrical installations with 220 volts. For weak current, fire alarm devices and control systems, another 52 kilometers of cables were added. A part of these cables likewise installed 15 kilometer long cable troughs runs through the Hall.

For the inner roof 1,900 square meters of suspended drywall ceilings were installed as well as 2,700 square meters of suspended metal and expanded metal ceilings. The walls were clad with 1,800 square meters of wall tiles.

Until the first booths can be built up, there still is a lot to be done. However, the CMT in Stuttgart exhibitors are already looking forward to an exhibition hall that is covered by elegantly curved wooden beams and will be filled with plenty of daylight and the latest technical specifications.

Messe Stuttgart organizes around 70 trade fairs each year at the Stuttgart location, of which nearly 50 own exhibitions and about 20 guest fairs are held. These include public, craft and high-tech trade fairs. With its own subsidiaries, Messe Stuttgart is also present in Istanbul / Turkey, Atlanta / USA and Nanjing / China, in order to participate in the trade fair there as well. The ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart also hosts numerous congresses, conferences and other events every year. There are more than two dozen rooms available for 20 to 4900 persons and a total capacity of 10,000 seats. With a hall turnover factor of 15.7 in 2016, Messe Stuttgart is one of the most successful exhibition centers in Germany and Europe-wide.
